ABIRUB is my signature used when signing my illustrations. My artworks speak both to me and to others about how colorful life can ever be. I believe that everything has a story and I would like to express that through my artworks for myself, for my customers and for my clients. Working professionally, the best way to achieve a project goal is to work together by sharing thoughts and ideas. My name is Ayesa Aranas-Rublico and I use my initials ABIRUB as my signature when signing my original illustrations and designs. I’m a filipina freelance illustrator and designer currently based in Saitama-Japan. This portfolio shows some of my artworks representing the things that inspire me about my passion.
My Aesthetic approach is a mix of editorial and fashion illustration. Bold colors and print designs fascinate me. It has a powerful effect on emotions and I would like to express it on my creations. As a fashion enthusiast, I keep myself updated on trends and apply it with my own style. I Use both traditional and digital as my arts media depending on the demand from the client and also knowing what is best for a specific project.
History: Eversince i can remember, drawing has been part of my life even before I started Kindergarten. Beauty Queens and Brides just amazed me and that’s when I knew I wanted to become someone who will design and illustrate someday.
Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
Major in Management (1996-2000)
Silliman University , Philippines
Currently taking up Fashion Design Course: New Skills Academy
Growing up, I was led to believe that drawing and the likes are just for hobbies and the chances to become really successful with it was very rare. But that did not stop me from learning. I’m a self-taught Artist who believes in what Sir Brayne says “Nothing is impossible with hard-work, commitment and dedication”.
Work Experience: With my mix of work experience from different areas such as Marketing, Fashion Designing and Customer Service, I have gained skills that made me adept in perceiving and accommodating the Client’s needs.
My portrait illustrations are mostly inspired by real people I have met and admired from the past and present,
amplifying the inspo with a touch of my aesthetic-approach*. It’s like their other persona in a parallel universe
but still relatable. I love elevating my portraits by making it more colorful and fun!

As a fashion enthusiast, patterns and designs are really important to me. From clothings to home decors,
the details are as important as the materials being put together to create balance. It is not just about applying any of my
artworks into any products. As a detail-oriented-artist, I would treat each product appropriately by creating precise details
in order to have substance into the design. That is why it is beneficial to both artist and the client to have a clear
perspective when it comes to a commercial project without compromising my personal art style*.

Inclusivity in fashion industry is very essential and it inspires me to explore more. I want to carry out more representation on my designs. I usually illustrate colorful clothes on my models with high fashion poses. I find it very fascinating .
Contemporary illustration covers a very broad representation of arts that’s why every artist can express however they wish to using modern technology or any form of influences. My inspiration comes from different perspective depending on how I feel. It is very important for artists to deviate sometimes from their usual style and routine to avoid being burnt out.
For fun, I make caricatures or Custom cartoon for individuals and/or family, group of friends and even pets. My goal is to make whoever looks at it - happy. It’s more on not taking it too seriously but not too distorted. Some finds caricature in general as too exaggerated but most of my clients just wanted cute. So I kind of go for that direction - cute, funny and animated. From then on, I have created caricature-logos for small businesses as as well.
